I have just got off the phone from Crystal Harvey (who many of you know is still recovering from open heart surgery) who in tears has told me that the Arkansas Health Department is pushing for mandatory fluoridation again in her home state. She was in tears because even though she was able to fight off this effort last time around, she is worried that her health might not allow her to do it this time. She needs help BIG TIME and she deserves it. She is a wonderful and effective fighter - who not only has inspired many citizens to fight this cause in Arkansas but also through the email network and through her attendance at all three of the FAN conferences.  She has inspired people across the country with her humor and her determination. But this time she is going to have to fight with a wonky heart.

Crystal received this message from her State rep today:

In case you haven't seen the agenda, dental health will be discussed at

the Public Health Committee meeting on Thursday, 12/18.  It is my

understanding that fluoridation will be part of the presentation.  I am

told that the health department will be pushing hard for a mandatory

fluoridation bill again this session.

The meeting is at 1:30 in Room 130 at the Capitol.

So if you live in Arkansas please contact Crystal at crystalthepink@gmail.com and offer to help her in any way you can. Or if you know someone else who lives in Arkansas please ask them to contact her.

Crystal asked those who live outside Arkansas to send an email to all the members of the committee that will be hearing from the Health Department at 1:30 pm this Thursday (Dec 18) (see email list below).

Warn them not to be fooled by these health officials - who at best don't do their homework, and at worst simply follow orders from the dental zealots at the CDC. Tell them about the FAN web site http://www.FluorideAlert.org; the 2006 NRC report (which is online and free to read and search at http://www.nap.edu/catalog.php?record_id=11571); the 23 studies which have reported an association between fluoride and lowered IQ in children (at http://fluoridealert.org/iq.studies.html); ask them to watch the 5 minute video made featuring Dr. Bill Osmunson, a dentist who explains why he once promoted fluoridation but now opposes the practice (at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ys9q1cvKGk) and also tell them that Dr. Osmunson is one of over 2000 professionals calling for an end to fluoridation worldwide. That should be enough to get them thinking.

Here are the email addresses of the state legislators on the committee who will hear the plea by the Arkansas Health Department to support mandatory fluoridation.  Please copy your message to the following and also bcc crystalthepink@gmail.com and myself paul@fluoridealert.org:
