Kamchatka Unleashes One of the Most Powerful Eruptions in Years
ORIGINAL CAPTION: Powerful flows of ash came from the volcano's crater along with gas flows and magma. Temperatures hit 800 degrees C (1,472 degrees F) and ash blew 10-12 kilometres high. Satellite photos distinctly show a 600-kilometre ash plume going west from the volcano.
