Earthquake Strikes Off Oregon Coast
KOIN, News 6; Oregon
BANDON, Ore. - A 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck off the west coast of Oregon, about 150 miles west of Bandon.
John Connolly of the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network says the Monday morning quake was not strong enough to trigger a tsunami warning. However, had it happened closer to the shoreline, it could have cause property damage.
It was centered deep underground, about 6.2 miles below the water's surface, and occurred on a fracture zone, between the Pacific plate and the Juan de Fuca plate.
